New Park Will Enhance the Legacy Trail

Sarasota just gets better every day! Due to the generosity of Palmer Ranch developer, Hugh Culverhouse, there will now be an 82-acre park at the northern end of the bike trail known as Legacy Trail. Included in the plans for this will be a kayak launch, hiking trails, a playground, a community organic garden, pavilion and restrooms, preservation of wildlife areas and for the 2-legged creatures, a place to park some cars. The Sarasota County Commission has approved all of this and named this, rightly so, Culverson Nature Park. (Hey….if you donate that much land you can have your name in it too…seems fair.) This donation and the planning of the park have been in the works for 2 years so this is great news as it will soon be a reality.
